Jozef Kostka (29. 1. 1912 Stupava - 30. 9. 1996 Bratislava) ako sochár bol významným predstaviteľom slovenského umenia. Študoval na Strednej priemyselnej škole umeleckej v Prahe u profesora K. Dvořáka (1932 - 1937). Bol na študijnom pobyte L'Ecole des Blanye Arts v Paríži (1938 - 1939). Od roku 1943 do roku 1973 učil na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení v Bratislave. Umelecky vychádzal z Michelangela. Venoval sa figurálnej plastike, kresbe a keramike. V jeho tvorbe prevládala komorná tvorba, známe sú napr. diela Čičmianka, Svätopluk, Žiaľ. Bol držiteľom mnohých cien a vyznamenaní.
